SPIED: Lexus LC Convertible seen during photoshoot!

Lexus wasted no time in getting the LC Convertible to production, after showing the prototype car just a few months ago at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. It’s due for a debut soon, and lucky for us, our spy photographers managed to catch one out in the open during an official photo and video shoot.

The soft-top grand tourer seen in this set of pictures appears to wear a new shade of bluish indigo metallic paint, though it’s unclear if the colour is part of the new Inspiration palette. Either way, it’s a gorgeous colour, and it’s as though the LC will look good in just about any colour that gets splashed onto its body. Few cars can pull this off, and we think the E46 BMW 3 Series is one of few.

Now, the production version of the LC Convertible will sit on 21-inch wheels which are carried over from the coupe. In fact, it will share much of the parts and components from its hard-top counterpart, and that includes the powertrain as well.

Expect the LC 500 Convertible to be equipped with the same 5.0 litre naturally-aspirated, high-revving V8 that makes 471 hp and 540 Nm of torque. The engine should be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The hybrid LC 500h Convertible is also a possible debutant, powered with an electrified 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine that produces a total system output of 354 hp. This engine gets an advanced four-speed automatic that simulates the feel of a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Those excited about the LC Convertible will be glad to know that it will retain the 2+2 seating configuration. It should be making an official debut in the next few months, and Lexus expects at least half of its LC customers to opt for the Convertible. Who here is a fan of the Lexus LC?
