Hankook has launched its latest tyre in Malaysia, the Hankook Ventus Prime 3 (K125). Described as an ultra high-performance tyre delivering the perfect balance between performance and safety, the K125 is aimed at those whose driving styles are smack in the middle between sport and comfort.
Not an all-out performance tyre, the Ventus Prime 3 appears to be more balanced in terms of performance versus practical attributes than the popular Ventus V12 evo2 model. Last year, the K125 was selected as the OEM factory fit tyre for the new Ford Focus Active and Citroen C3 Aircross in Europe.
Tread design features include four water clearing/cooling channels for water displacement and wet performance, three wide tread ribs and groove chamfers to spread the contact patch under braking for better grip.
The tyre employs a high grip silica compound said to be good for both traction and rolling resistance, a jointless full cover reinforcement belt, a wide steel belt layer and an equilibrium rayon carcass line for enhanced sidewall stiffness and durability. Also on are a high stiffness bead filler and a strong single strand bead wire for improved uniformity and tyre fitting.
Hankook is proud of the K125’s first place in the 2018 summer tyre test by Germany’s Auto Bild, and the Red Dot Award for Product Design 2016 won by the tyre. The Ventus Prime 3 is available from 15- to 18-inch sizes, and there will be 18- and 19-inch sizes for SUVs as well. Recommended pricing starts from RM180.
