It has been a full five years since the current Honda Accord surfaced. Today’s 10th-generation is a big departure from the three-box sedan it replaced, introducing a low-slung body with a sloping roofline to a segment that has lost prominence due to the rise of SUVs. Still significant enough for an 11th-generation though, and this is our first look at the next-gen Accord.
These images are patent filings in Brazil, and they show a long and low D-segment sedan body that isn’t dissimilar to the current Accord. It looks like Honda is retaining the fastback shape characterised by the sloping roofline and short rear deck. Even the character line on the profile that arches from the front lights to the rear is similar, although the new car gets simpler treatment on the rocker panel area and the end of the daylight opening.
It’s a sleek shape, although the front overhang looks a little long in full profile. In front, Honda has been phasing out the thick chrome bars of the Solid Wing era with simple six-point grilles and slim headlamps, as seen on the latest HR-V and freshly-unveiled new CR-V. The Accord follows suit; and with a very understated slim lower grille, there’s plenty of open bumper room.
The rear end sees the biggest change from today’s Accord. Gone are the “paper clip” lights from today’s car and in comes full-width tail lamps broken up by the Honda emblem in the centre – just like on the new HR-V. The bootlid has a subtle built-in spoiler, the “diffuser” is just a smooth one-piece trim and the reflectors are high up on the bumper. Tail lamps aside, it’s all familiar.
Our current Accord is powered by Honda’s 1.5 litre turbo-four engine with 201 PS and 260 Nm, with drive going to the front wheels via CVT. This combo is a mainstay for Honda now, and the just-revealed new CR-V gets an updated version of the 1.5L VTEC Turbo engine. The next Accord could well share the same powertrains as the sixth-generation CR-V, including an e:HEV hybrid.
So, what’s your first impression of the next-gen Accord with Honda’s new front and rear language? Also, would you rather have a D-segment sedan like the Accord or a C-segment SUV like the CR-V, and why?

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Nice and clean.
It looks like Geely Emgrand, except the front plastic Grille.
Shape nice but lampu belakang kurang sikit
judging from the sales number globally, Honda can’t invest too much for this segment anymore…so don’t expect much for all the accords going forward.
It is not a paper clip, it is a stapler.
Same like A7
Maybe with the new model Honda will have a fighting chance against the Camry in Malaysia.. considering how awful and uderwhelming the current-generation Accord is. It’s even rarer than a Volkswagen Passat, nevermind a Camry!
The HRV,CRV and ACCORD …Oh my gaud..the frontage looks weird, neither here nor there.
It is not appealing at all.The correct word..Damn ugly.
The belakang seems better.
What do you expect when the Passat is almost 20k cheaper? It’s also not a coincidence that many decided to top up for a 3 series instead. BMW are as common as Japanese cars these days.
At this price range, there’s no fighting chance for Accord or Camry. They are too near to luxury car prices.
Fighting chance against Camry?! Smoking what. Camry itself doesn’t have a fighting chance to survive til next gen! Go see how many new Camry are out there, bet you Harrier is more commonly seen. D segment as a whole is dying and it was a foresight long ago from Proton to predict this event when they choose the cost option of reusing the older Accord platform for Perdana and killed of this model when D segment sales were dropping. Honda & Toyota still stubbornly holding onto big boss unker car when the unkers have long moved onto SUV & MPV segments.
You are right. Unker’s back is too still and weak to bend down into a sedan. Majority prefer SUVs nowadays.
its hard to believe accord used to be a top seller here
Yes,it is also hard to believe in 1985 Saga is in the same segment as Accord. The Accord have matured into time spinning model like Civic, City, Jazz to replace it. While Saga continue to be A segment car forever.
Were you born yesterday? It sounded like so. Saga has never competed against Accord, nope. That Honda has always been above it as Saga competitor then was Honda Civic. Perhaps you are referring to early 1970’s Accord but that is dumb to compare such. And what is wrong with Saga remaining the most affordable car to the masses.
finally a honda that is not ugly. still a long way to go to be desirable. baby steps i guess
honda is rolling, rolling to become(copy) every carmaker out there you can find.
Looks stunning for the new Accord. I would interest to see the revival of Inspire and Legend with this design language. Hey Honda, please bring something to answer the new Crown by Toyota
So i should not buy the accord now? It looks alright to me
I think the front and rear overhangs are just too long. The silhouette though is nice, almost like an A7.
