Congestion is an ongoing challenge in urban areas to say the least, and often manifests in the difficulty faced in getting a vacant parking box. That is difficult to begin with, even before encountering characters who occupy a parking space by standing in it, which is what was encountered by local actress Elvina Mohamad as reported by The Sun.
Elvina posted a short clip of the episode to her TikTok account, which can be viewed below, and which shows a woman occupying a parking box while waiting for her friend to arrive in their own car to parking in said space.
“We were driving in circles three or four times looking for parking, and this woman [stood in] our spot, reserving it for her friend,” Elvina said. The woman depicted in the video said she had been standing there for a long time, but Elvina had already been waiting to park at that parking box after another car departed, she added.
The woman continued to ignore Elvina and guided their friend’s car – appearing to be a blue Perodua Bezza – into the box, with the help of another person which appeared to be from the same group of friends.
The law has been made clear on this matter, and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has stated in 2018 that such an act is not permitted, and any person doing so would be committing an offence under Section 50 (3) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
The rule states, “If any person, otherwise than with lawful authority, remains on any road or at any parking place for the purpose of importuning any other person in respect of the watching or cleaning of a motor vehicle, or for the purpose of directing any driver of a motor vehicle in respect of parking on such road or at such place, he shall be guilty of an offence.
Punishment for anyone found guilty of this is a maximum fine of RM2,000, or imprisonment of up to six months for the first offence. A second conviction doubles the punishment, to RM4,000 for the maximum fine, or a prison term of up to 12 months.

How about those motorcycles illegally parked inside car parking spaces just because it’s nearer to the shop/place they want to go to?

My experience of motorcycle parked in the car park space and tgere was a police traffic standing near parking lot and l asked him about the motorcycle parked in the parkibg lot and what did the police traffic reply , dont tell him what to do and l better drove off or he would summond ME!!

What about those shop owners or petty traders who place rubbish bin, chairs or cons so public don’t park in front of their shops? Why the local council or PDRM not taking action on them?
how about chairs ? often times in front of the shop u will see chairs as booking tool for parking.
I would suggest increasing the fine and a confirmed jail time. Minimum 5k fine, and 6 months jail.
And start catching them.

How about shops put cones illegally on white parking lanes??? There is a place in jb shopping center at Tmn sentosa, all white parking guarded by gangsters appointed by karaoke club inside the shopping center at night. You hv to pay RM15-20 to park your car on MBJB parking lot. There is once they damaged my tyre and rim when I told them not going to pay for mbjb parking lot. I reported the issue to MBJB, but MBJB dont even bother to take action. So, moral of the story, the authority only take action either the video went viral or rich ppl involved. Shameful government!

How about object like wood plank or cone used to chup the parking place? Can see these objects in many public parking places. Usually done by the shops. So how? why only targeting people?
How to fine the parking cone if no one saw who put there? Go down remove it lah…who come make noise then they’re the offenders.
This illegal reservation of car parking lot is not confined to that in this report, there are many other examoles too who placed all.types of items in front of their shop lots and houses, mainly for their own convenient as if the public road and parking lots belonged to them, mainly during office hours, some for hours, a few permanently, and local authority is doing nothing about it. Among the items are :
* A pole on cement tank
* State garbage tank
* Chair
* Flower pot
* Hawker stall
* House guard to block.others from coming to park
What about shops placing chairs or dustbin at the empty parking box to reserve it for their own use later. This usually happen in crowded areas and also done by tyre / workshop and car accessories shops. They only rent the shop and will also take the parking lots infront, disallowing other motorists to park. Police and relevant authorities never take action against them. V unfair to the public

how about life sentence? our laws and regulations currently seem to not inflict fear among offenders , all punishments for any type of non compliance to law should be met wit life sentence or death penalty, only then we will be able to avoid this things , cant believe i was not allowed to contest in GE15 by my own party for suggesting this

They should make it so that the one chup-ping the spot gets at least 5K fine AND 3months jail.. as for the driver that parks into it as a result of this ‘chupp’ thing, cancle their license and place a 6months blacklist before they can retake their license (they’ll have to start back from ‘L’).. and if possible cancle the roadtax of the car too so that they’ll need to get new roadtax after the sentence. Reinforcement is key, and harsher ‘just coz of this simple matter, you’ll lose huge sums of money’.
(also if i was the driver i’d just slowly drive into the parking nudging the girl off the space. Did it twice already. just make sure there’s a video evidence that they are illegally reserving the parking space in case of ‘I’ll sue you’ moment)
