Motorcycle crashes into person at toll plaza – use the correct lane, and slow down for potential hazards

Man versus machine may sound like a documentary title, but when observed as a road traffic incident the outcome is nearly always disastrous, as depicted here in an instance of a motorcyclist colliding with highway security personnel.

Dashcam footage posted to X/Twitter shows the camera vehicle going through the toll plaza in the far left lane, which is meant for trucks and other oversized vehicles. As the camera vehicle approaches, a security staff member, seen on camera in the white shirt and high-visibility vest, is seen waiting for the camera vehicle to stop before crossing the lane.

The security personnel is seen to stop in his path, past the camera vehicle but still yet to reach the road shoulder as he sights oncoming traffic, which is the oncoming motorcyclist. Hesitation can be seen in that brief moment, when the security personnel does not know which way to evade.

The oncoming motorcyclist inevitably collides with the security personnel, sending both persons to the ground. The crashed motorcyclist was followed by several other motorcyclists along the same path, indicating that the use of the car lane is common practice.

As the security staff attempts to get back on his feet, the crashed motorcyclist tries to do the same, but collapses again from the apparent buckling of his right leg, an injury that would have been sustained in the crash.

Most toll plazas along highways will have a dedicated motorcycle lane that goes around the back of the toll plaza building, which is designed to prevent car-and-bike conflicts as these areas are where the entry and exit paths to the building are located. Often, some motorcyclists choose to take one of the car lanes instead to shorten their path, especially when the motorcycle lane takes a longer detour around the toll plaza building.

The danger, and the outcome that can result from it speaks for itself here. That said, there are times when the motorcycle lane is closed for maintenance or repair works, and motorcyclists will be diverted to a temporary lane alongside cars, though highway operators will place barriers when this is required. When cars and bikes are in closer proximity like this, slower is safer, and only go as fast as you can confidently stop from.

He did look you fool. He was looking out for cars and he stop right in front of cam car before crossing. Mind you he has a vest on indicating he is a toll staffer so he got the right cross but who could expect motors to bypass at car lane.

The biker is clearly at fault.
He could have been semiparalysed or have a spinal tulang injury that requires repeated trips to the hospital.
It is sad, food delivery riders ignore red traffic lights.
Now,they encroach into car lanes at toll plazas.
They think they untouchables..king of the road.

Minister of transport , honourable Anthony Loke It is time you implement stricter traffic rules on this lawless motorcyclists who refuses to slow at important danger routes.

These motorcyclists treat all public roads as F1 tacing circuit irrespective at highways , freeways , residential roads , shopping areas , arterial roads worst these motorcyclists do not want to STOP at red colour traffic lights

These motorcyclists even zip zap in highways , freeways and congestion roads without regards in slowing and allowing for motorists to change lane in case of tire punctures , breakdown car in front and their own

What the hell is going on with malaysia traffic ordinance and enforcement for motorcycles nowadays behaving like road gangsters

Enough is enough , as a transport minister pls do not sleep and instruct your subordinates to come out with new rules for motorcycles immediately .

Malalysia motorcyclists were once very road obedient riders before 2000

Suddenly after 2003 , motorcyclists were behaving like mafia on the road

It is because the PM at that time gave free road tax to motorcycles and thus no insurance that lead to the aggresive behaviour of these motocylists till now ?

Pls do something fast honourable Minister of Transport. Before it is too late
to get back law and order.

Toll operators should report this type of nonsense. They have LPR in every lane.

  • Whether you feel amused or entertained by this, the fact of this adversity remains true. Both pedestrian and motorcyclist were casualties.

Pedestrian – victim of this careless act.
Motorcyclist – encouraged by years of complacency and expediency of traffic authorities, government and above all, the law.

For the love of this beautiful country, please fix this. We have had enough of the lawlessness that prevails this land. One can argue that motorcyclists are like this because of lack of enforcement, or that they chose to use the car lane in this toll, a complete, absolute neglect of safety and regulatory execution is what led to this.

This comment will do nothing to change the mindset. Only the law can. Elected and unelected civil servants, get your act together!

Marehsia Motorcyclist is king of the highway no need to pay toll and pass through any available path within the toll booth instead of using motorcycle lane. There can even cut down the highway perimeter fence to get short cut in out into parallel trunk road.

Maybe Malaysia Local Exam doesnt emphasize Lane Splitting or Close Proximity Traffic Speed Difference?

can reference to other countries that has the guide.

common sense can come from different perspective:
for those rempit rider they may think they have the right common sense already, which to them, this is other ppl fault.

As a fellow motorcyclist, I have no sympathy for idiots like this zooming around. Got absolutely what he deserved. I’m more sympathetic to the innocent staff manning the booth just trying to go back. Fucking stop speeding in such inappropriate places. Same goes for filtering in traffic.
