2025 Lotus Emira updated in Australia – new Turbo SE variant; 405 PS, 470 Nm, 0-100 in 4 seconds, 293 km/h

Lotus has updated its Emira sports car for the 2025 model year, which sees the introduction of a new variant carrying the ‘SE’ badge to evoke the ‘Special Equipment’ packages offered for historic models like the Elite, Esprit Turbo, Excel, Elan and Europa.

Joining the existing Turbo and V6 variants is the new Turbo SE that retains the base option’s Mercedes-AMG-sourced M139 2.0 litre turbocharged inline-four petrol engine, albeit with a significant power bump.

As reported by Drive the Emira Turbo SE in Australia will pack 405 PS (400 hp or 298 kW) and 470 Nm, which is an increase over the Turbo with 364 PS (359 hp or 268 kW) and 430 Nm of torque.

An eight-speed dual-clutch transmission continues to drive the rear wheels to enable a 0-100 km/h time of four seconds and top speed of 293 km/h. By comparison, the Turbo needs 4.4 seconds and maxes out at 275 km/h.

As for the V6 variant, it keeps its Toyota-sourced 2GR-FE 3.5 litre supercharged V6 petrol unit serving up 405 PS (400 hp or 298 kW) and either 420 Nm with a six-speed manual, or 430 Nm with the optional six-speed automatic gearbox. It should be noted the V6 is slightly slower compared to the Turbo SE with a century sprint time of 4.3 seconds and top speed of 290 km/h.

In terms of kit, the Turbo SE gets the optional Lotus Drivers Pack with Sports suspension, launch control and beefier brakes. Also included are 20-inch forged wheels in a satin grey finish, a new Zinc Grey paint finish, an Alcantara headliner, red-painted brake calipers, black exhaust tips and black badges.

The base Turbo gains upgraded single-piece brake discs, new 20-inch silver alloy wheels, restyled pedal covers and “technical fabric” interior headlining. For the 2025 model year, the Turbo comes with black-painted brake calipers, a black leather interior, 12-way powered front seats, Touring suspension and a Vivid Red base colour.

Lastly, the V6 gets new badges as well as the “technical fabric” interior headlining. Manual versions continue to receive a limited-slip differential, while Touring suspension, cross-drilled and ventilated two-piece brake discs continued to be standard.
