Castrol Edge with PowerBoost Tech engine oil now in Malaysia – claims 30% better engine performance

Castrol Malaysia has launched the Castrol Edge with PowerBoost Technology engine oil, which is claimed to offer a 30% improvement in engine performance over tough industry limits. The eye-catching figure was obtained versus the limits of engine tests from ACEA and API industry specifications.

The lubricants specialist says that the new Castrol Edge with PowerBoost Technology is designed to enhance key engine components such as pistons, valvetrain and turbochargers. “This advanced formula not only boosts power and acceleration but also delivers improved performance,” the company says, adding that the improved showing was based on extensive real-world simulations.

“We’re excited to introduce this innovation to Malaysian drivers. PowerBoost Technology showcases Castrol’s commitment to maximising vehicle performance,” said Keow Mei-Shan, MD of Castrol Malaysia and Singapore.

The latest high performance engine oil from Castrol is available in 5W-40 and other thinner viscosities. It is also compatible with hybrid engines. Sports and performance car drivers, which engine oil is the one you swear by?

That sounds like total fraudulent marketing right there. 30% performance improvement? Sounds like a scammer bait-and-hook! A 200hp car can be pushing out 260hp at the dyno with this oil change? What is this, snake oil??

If they’re truthful they will specify that it’s merely an improvement in friction reduction, 30% relative to some baseline e.g. normal mineral oil. But when you market in a dishonest way it’ll put your product in doubt.
