October 2024 saw 69,859 vehicles delivered to customers, according to the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA). Although 8.3% down on October 2023’s 76,173 units, it’s a 20% leap over last month’s 58,032 units.
MAA attributes this to year-end promos by various brands and the long working month, and expects an even better November. Year-to-date (YTD) sales stand at 664,002 units (+2.4% over YTD Oct 2023), or just under 87% of the association’s 765,000-unit 2024 total industry volume (TIV) forecast. The industry has to sell about 101,000 vehicles in November and December combined to achieve the forecast.
In terms of production, 71,196 vehicles were built in October 2024 (-4% versus October 2023’s 74,191), but the YTD number is a healthier 664,246 units (+4% over January-October 2023’s 640,633).
