RM9.1 mil in traffic summonses paid during ‘Program Dua Tahun Kerajaan Madani’ event, says police

Around RM9.1 million in traffic summonses were paid thanks to the 60% discounts offered during the ‘Program Dua Tahun Kerajaan Madani’ event, which celebrates the second anniversary of the Madani government.

During the three-day event, a total of 103,590 summonses were settled, according to Bukit Aman traffic investigation and enforcement department director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri. “The top three offences were speeding, ignoring traffic signals and illegal parking (traffic obstruction). We received great response from the public, who visited our booth to settle their summonses during the programme,” he said.

As reported by The Star, the department is also studying the possibility of offering discounts on traffic summonses nationwide via cashless payment using the MyBayar PDRM app and web portal. “We also aim to increase the number of people registering with MyBayar PDRM,” Yusri noted.

He added that the department did not have a target on the number of summonses to be paid during the event. “Thus, we were heartened by the presence of 32,500 visitors who visited our booth to settle their summonses. Our priority is not the amount collected, but the number of overdue summonses that have been settled. The huge number of people who came showed the awareness among the public,” he said.

    Collected 9m, very happy BUT didn’t realise they have the power to get all the 22m (100%). When fall short of $, have to cut subsidy this and that. Wonder why PMX and his ministers didn’t see this?

      RM 9mil is peanuts when majority is still waiting for PMX to give 70% diskaun, then only we will really pay all our samans.

        2024 = 60%
        2025 = 70%
        2026 = 80%
        2027 = 90%
        2028 = kerajaan PN

  • I think that there shouldn’t a discount be given anyway in the first place. This is so unfair to those law-abiding drivers; not to mention the discounts can be heard from time to time. This does not encourage such people to abide by the traffic rules but instead had mind-set them that they can be let-off with a lower fee in the event summonses issued & thus encourages irresponsibility on the road. No wonder Malaysia had so many accidents that resulted death. Disappointed!

      Seems to encourage ppl to break the law and then wait for discount. Sigh!

      If no diskaun then no bayar, PMX got no money then he rugi wat. If sudah accident mati lagi no need bayar. Win-win for all!
