The facelifted BYD Dolphin has been revealed by China’s ministry of industry and information technology (MIIT), with changes made to the all-electric hatchback’s design, dimensions and powertrain options.
On the outside, the Dolphin features new, curvier headlamps that are accompanied by black trim that extends into the A-pillars. There’s also a redesigned grille and the front bumper gets a more elegant lower intake as well as prominent side inlets.
Moving to the rear, we see a new bumper with faux corner outlets extending into the reshaped number plate recess, while the taillights appear to get revised graphics.
The MIIT data also shows the new Dolphin will measure 4,280 mm long, 1,770 mm wide, 1,570 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. This would make the updated electric vehicle (EV) longer and comparable to the global version which we currently get.
As for powertrains, an additional electric motor option has been added which is rated at 177 PS (174 hp or 130 kW). This joins the existing two options that provide 95 PS (94 hp or 70 kW) and 204 PS (201 hp or 150 kW).
According to CarNewsChina, BYD’s lithium iron phosphate (LFP) Blade battery packs will continue to be used for the Dolphin. Energy capacities weren’t mentioned but the 2025 Dolphin currently listed for sale in China is available with 44.928- or 60.48-kWh packs – range is between 420 and 520 km following the CLTC standard.
