Owners of vehicles in Putrajaya floods to get RM1k each, Putrajaya Corp to establish temporary car park

The 20 vehicles owners who suffered losses in the flash flood which occurred yesterday, December 9 in Precinct 11 in Putrajaya will receive RM1,000 in assistance, reported The Star.

A temporary car park will be established by the Putrajaya Corporation, and this will accommodate 200 vehicles as a short-term solution, said minister in the prime minister’s department for federal territories Zaliha Mustafa, who has requested for the corporation to complete the temporary car park within two weeks.

“Furthermore, I have asked the Putrajaya Corporation to set up a warning system, involving the use of sirens and alerts to residents in the area to move their vehicles promptly. This can be achieved by employing the Internet of Things (IoT) where sensors will be installed in drainage maintenance compartments throughout Putrajaya to monitor the water level,” the minister said.

The cause of the flood in Precinct 11 of Putrajaya was identified to be heavy rain upstream of Sungai Anak Gajah, which led to water overflow in low-lying areas.

As a long-term measure, the ministry plans to collaborate with the Irrigation and Drainage Department (DID) to reassess the drainage system in the area. Improvements will be made to prevent similar incidents if the drainage is found to be inadequate, the report wrote.

Wonder how the EV car owners manage flood insuarance. And also what kind of damage to the “engine/motor” did this car sustain and how it was rectified. Is there any study on this?

RM1k compensation can’t do anything much compare to the extensive repairs, refurbishments and steep depreciation lost.

  • Report shows that Putrajaya are among the highest earners, if not the highest. Why give them RM1K? What about those in Jalan Meru?

    This gomen a real joke.

    1. Compensation for only the richest income area in Malaysia.
    2. See from photos also will know that alot of those cars are parked illegally at the roadside not proper parking space.
    3. RM1k compensation for each car? might as well make it subsidised “Special Peril” coverage for all cars insurance in malaysia. It cost way lower than RM1k for each car.
    4. If there are proper planning and drainage, this problem won’t happen at all.
