AUDI E launching in China in summer 2025 – up to 700 km CLTC EV range; dual-motor AWD with 775 PS

According to a report by CarNewsChina, the AUDI E will be launched in China in the summer (between June and August) of 2025. A concept previewing the forthcoming electric vehicle (EV) was revealed in November this year when the German brand introduced the new sub-brand (without the four rings logo but spelt in four capital letters) as part of an expanded joint venture with long-term partner SAIC Motor.

At the time, the concept was touted as having a 100-kWh battery which provides up to 700 km of range following the CLTC standard. With an 800V electrical architecture, it also supports fast charging, with 370 km of range recoverable with just 10 minutes of being plugged in.

The battery powers two electric motors for an all-wheel drive setup rated at 775 PS (764 hp or 570 kW) and 800 Nm of torque, which enables a 0-100 km/h time of 3.6 seconds. Audi also said the AUDI E concept measures 4,870 mm long, 1,990 mm wide, 1,460 mm tall and has 2,950-mm wheelbase.

Based on spyshots posted by the publication, the production version of the E retains many of the design cues seen on the concept. These include the patterned light ring on the closed-off grille and rear tailgate – the latter extending into the haunches – along with a roof-mounted lidar sensor, flush door handles and eight-spoke wheels. One notable change is the larger camera units in place of conventional side mirrors.

The report also pointed out that the E was spotted alongside test cars belonging to the SAIC-backed IM Motors. This suggests that IM Motors is also involved in the development of the E, which is a continuation of what was announced in July 2023. Audi is apparently looking to use the IM Motors platform for its future vehicles based on the activesphere, skysphere, urbanpshere and grandsphere concepts.
