The road transport department (JPJ) has held a special technical raid operation focused on commercial and public service vehicles, held over five days and which had concluded on Sunday, reported Bernama.
The operation saw 5,306 notices issued from the inspection of 17,729 commercial and public service vehicles, and the notices involved the detaining of vehicles, inspection orders and questioning of operators, said ministry of transport secretary-general Datuk Jana Santhiran Muniayan.
Action was taken against 1,787 vehicles with 16 vehicles seized, of which 15 were commercial vehicles and one public service vehicle. “[The JPJ] is not out to find faults by issuing notices; we only aim to ensure road safety and optimal road conditions. Notices are not issued arbitrarily,” Jana Santhiran said.
A recurring issue with commercial vehicles is the use of unsuitable or retreaded tyres, the transport ministry secretary-general said, adding that these were a key area of focus during the operation which was to ensure that brakes and tyres of the vehicles checked are in proper condition.
“Vehicles will be stopped from continuing their journey if violations are found. During earlier checks, we observed several vehicles using retreaded tyres with the outer layer nearly peeling off. This could pose a significant danger to road users if these tyres come off while on the road. This is precisely the situation we aim to prevent,” he said.
The JPJ has deployed more than 1,500 personnel to strengthen enforcement of trade-related offences, including overloading, technical issues, documentation, and traffic violations, particularly during festive seasons, said Jana Santhiran. The additional personnel have been deployed to highways, urban roads, and other areas to aid enforcement during festive periods, he said.

Hello…
Ini hangat-hangat tahi ayam aje…after, this there will be no concrete action!!
“A recurring issue with commercial vehicles is the use of unsuitable or retreaded tires”
Since this is a recurring issue!!
Why not shut down all the retread tire factories and a total ban on the import of retread tires.
There is a lot of fake imports from Pakistan and also watch David Zhang videos on youtube.
Ban all the retread tires and only allow the branded premium manufacturers(Good year, Dunlop, Michelin, Continental,Bridgestone) to sell their tyres here…
Of course the gov must also reduce the taxes or have other conditions like the factories must be here in Malaysia…
Ada berani kah?
Tyre rethread industry needs to convince us that it is able to keep compliance to specific standards. The standards must be made clear and then specify the rethreaded tyre load capacity. Otherwise how will user know the limits and capacity of this tyres. They owe us this standard and specification.. otherwise don’t allow use of rethreaded tyre
Another hangat tahi ayam op… after some time, back to usual until something “big” happen again. Ini dah episode berulang berapa nih ha?!
Ok.. Now lets wait for the discount offer and we will pay…
