For the 48th year in a row, the Ford F-Series is once again America’s best-selling truck, the company announced in a recent release. According to the automaker, more than 33 million F-Series pick-up trucks have been sold since 1977.
While the company did not disclose a year-to-date (YTD) figure for 2024, it said the F-Series remained the nation’s top-selling vehicle overall for a 43rd straight year based on internal projections and current year records.
Referring to sales numbers compiled by Car and Driver, there’s no doubting Ford’s claim as 528,028 units of the F-Series were sold as per the last update on October 9, 2024, with the Chevrolet Silverado coming in second with 399,604 units.
“The enduring legacy of the F-Series is not just a result of our relentless pursuit of improvement but also a reflection of the trust between Ford, our dealers and customers,” said Andrew Frick, president of Ford Blue “We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve our customers and are committed to continuing to earn their business every single day,” he added.
The F-Series ranges from the F-600 to the F-150, the latter being the smallest of the bunch which will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year. Ford offers a variety of powertrains, including petrol and diesel engines, for the F-Series, which is also available with fully electric power in the form of the F-150 Lightning.
