Following an early morning operation in Kuala Lumpur on New Year’s Day, 92 traffic summonses were issued for various offences, reports The Star. According to KL traffic investigation and enforcement department chief Asst Comm Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, 53 officers and personnel conducted the operation at Jalan Tun Razak and Jalan Semarak at about 3am.
“We inspected 147 motorcycles and nine cars. The most offences committed were for fancy number plates and not having a driving license,” he said after the operation ended at about 5am, adding that 38 motorcycles were also seized.
“We conducted the operation following complaints that mat rempit had resorted to even more dangerous stunts. While the countdown [to the new year] was over, a large number of motorcyclists were gathered along Jalan Semarak,” Mohd Zamzuri continued.
A section of the road was cordoned off to block the mat rempit, with most having motorcycles that were illegally modified. The motorcycles and their owners were brought to the police station for further inspections. Mohd Zamzuri also said the police are identifying individuals seen in videos depicting the mat rempits’ exploits.

Whats the point when lawbreakers will get 70% discount from PMX while Loke is only focus on selling more number plates. Too bad we cannot impeach him for not doing his job as Transport Minister!
