CKD locally assembled Volvo EX30 open for booking – base Plus is gone, MY25 starts from RM209k Ultra

Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) has announced the opening of order books for the CKD locally assembled Volvo EX30. Launched in September 2024, the first batch of the EV – CBU imported from China – has been fully sold.

The MY25 CKD EX30 range consists of two variants – the RM208,888 Ultra and the RM228,888 Ultra Twin Performance. As is usually the case from Volvo, CKD prices are identical to the CBU first batch. However, the base Plus variant that kicked off the range at RM188,888 is gone, which means that the EX30 range now starts above RM200k.

The Ultra has a single motor producing 272 PS/343 Nm, good for 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds. The Ultra Twin Performance adds on another motor for AWD, 428 PS, 543 Nm and a 0-100 km/h of just 3.6 seconds. Both are powered by a 69 kWh NMC battery, offering up to 476 km WLTP range for the single motor and 450 km for the twin motor. 175 kW DC fast charging tops up the battery from 10-80% SoC in 28 minutes. Full specs in our launch report.

VCM is highlighting the Volvo Car Service Plan (VSP), which covers essential services such as cabin air filter replacement, brake fluid checks, wiper blade replacement and software updates for up to five years or 100,000 km. Wear-and-tear items like brake pads and discs are also included so there’s truly no added cost for the next five years.

The EX30’s warranty is five years unlimited mileage for the car and eight years or 160,000 km for the high-voltage battery. The latter guarantees performance too, with free repair or replacement if capacity falls below 70% within the warranty period. Also included for five years is 24-hour roadside assistance.

Finally, colours. The MY25 CKD comes in Cloud Blue, Vapour Grey and Crystal White, which means that the CBU’s Onyx Black and the signature Moss Yellow hue are no more. The first cars rolling out from Volvo’s Shah Alam plant will be delivered in the second week of this month. Check out our launch report and review of the EX30.

i love Volvo but the one thing i can’t get over is the lack of the driver screen and instead opting to cram everything in the middle screen. am not sure how this is safer (or even practical) than a regular good ol’ odometer. this, and also the absence of rear aircon vents. the pilar vents should have still been included when designing this car because that is stereotypically Volvo. that being said this car is beautiful and if i did have the money i would honestly consider this.
