Kuala Lumpur police cracked down on Mat Rempit activity with a major traffic operation on Saturday night, checking around 1,500 vehicles along Jalan Loke Yew, Jalan Kuching and Jalan Tun Razak.
During Op Tutup, conducted as part of Op Selamat 23 in conjunction with Chinese New Year, the police and road transport department (JPJ) focused on motorcyclists who were gathered at various locations around the city.
In a statement, KL police’s traffic enforcement and investigation department (JSPT) chief assistant commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said authorities issued over 1,000 summonses for various offences. Of these, 789 were issued by the police, while 250 were issued by JPJ.
He added that during the operation, which was carried out by 75 policement, 72 motorcycles were seized for illegal modifications and that five individuals, aged between 15 and 25, were detained for using fake number plate (three cases), vehicle theft (one case) and misuse of psychotropic substances (one case).
Mohd Zamzuri said the aim of the operation was aimed at reducing traffic incidents and to deter motorcyclists from gathering to show off and carry out illegal races.

Can PDRM sita all the rempit killer machine bikes,ban their ownership,transfer ownership to deserving poor students,orang asli,rumah anak yatim etc.,thro new legislation?
All the under age rempit’s parents should be charged in court for loaning them the killer bikes.
Remember,the innocent victims could be one of your loved ones.
Rempits are like hardcore dadah addicts…no amount of education will help.Just sita their bikes and jail them.
Who wants to tanggung transfer fee, insurance, unpaid vehicle loans, and cost to unmodified the bikes to legal standard.
Every Saturday and Sunday midnight 3-5am also happened now only take actions…
They should held the operation at least twice a month. not once a year….
put public life in danger and disturbing others sleeping…

All those so called bike crimes would not take place should police has strong enforcement.
