Perodua 2024 scorecard – new all-time high records for sales, production, market share, service intake

Perodua had a very productive 2024, as the company announced new all-time high records in various aspects of its business.

Starting with registrations, Perodua managed to sell a total of 358,100 vehicles last year, which is 8.4% higher than in 2023. This result also represents a third consecutive year of growth for the company since 2021 when the company was recovering from the effects of the global pandemic on the automotive industry.

Looking back over the years, Perodua registered 190,300 units in 2021 (down from 220,200 units in 2020), with the figure increasing to 282,000 units in 2022, 330,300 units in 2023 and to 358,100 units last year.

Worth noting that this is a new sales record for the company, with the previous record being set in 2023. This has helped the company achieve a record market share of 43.8% in 2024, which is 2.5% higher than it was in 2023. Put simply, about four out of 10 cars sold in Malaysia last year was a Perodua.

On a related matter, Perodua produced a new record 368,100 units in 2024 to beat the previous record of 343,400 units set in 2023. In parallel with sales, this is a third year in a row that production has increased since 2021. That year saw 193,400 units produced, while it was 289,100 units in 2022.

Perodua says it managed to improve its production figures by minimising downtime, dynamic planning and coordination, agility in overcoming challenges as well as having dedicated staff who were willing to work overtime.

These efforts have improved the tact time at both the Perodua Manufacturing (PMSB) and Perodua Global Manufacturing (PGMSB) plants to 1.75 minutes (from 1.8 minutes in 2023) and 1.1 minutes (from 1.25 minutes) respectively. The operation rate of PMSB also went up to 97.1% (from 96.7%), while it was 98.4% (from 94.3%) for PGMSB.

On the aftersales side of the business, Perodua’s service intake numbers hit a new all-time high of 3.438 million units. The company says this is a 10.6% increase from 3.108 million units in 2023, and for context, the figures were 2.639 million in 2022, 2.006 million in 2021 and 2.014 million in 2020.

The only downside of Perodua…kedekut culture.
It took a huge backlash regards the kenching manis LEMON Bezza, later only they compensated the buyer.
With 370k unit sales..profits will be at all time high.
Yet they seldom reward the hardcore fanboys with bigger rebates.Just grab and grab.
Perhaps, they like what ABBA sings…WINNER TAKES ALL.

Simply put they should have given customers safer cars! All of them are running deathtraps on the road. If JPJ had statistics which brand have most accidents you will find P2 on top of the list vs all others COMBINED.

Basically sales are for the most cheapest basic brand P2 and it indicates that people are having to buy downwards; people previously going for Toyotas have to downgrade to P2. This is bad sign of our economy and how this Govt is fumbling it in the face of Trump upheavals.
