Conversion of ‘P’ driving licence to full CDL can now be carried out online on MyJPJ mobile application

The road transport department (JPJ) has announced that the conversion of a provisional driving licence (PDL) to a competent driving licence (CDL) can now be carried out online through the MyJPJ mobile application.

To apply for the licence conversion, users are to take the following steps:

  • Download or update to the latest version of the MyJPJ mobile app
  • Log in to your MyJPJ account
  • Select the “Permohonan CDL” (CDL application) menu
  • Select “Tempoh Pembaharuan” (renewal period)
  • Select “Mod Bayaran” (mode of payment), and pay the online application fee
  • Application will be processed, and you will be notified of your application status

According to the JPJ, the latest functionality in the MyJPJ mobile application will enable the 2,383,043 holders of the provisional driving licence (PDL) to apply for the conversion to the CDL, which means that licence holders will no longer be required to be physically present at a JPJ counter, and the procedure can be done anywhere, anytime, from the convenience of one’s smartphone.

The road transport department of Malaysia hopes that the initiative will facilitate easier use of the Malaysian driving licence through digital means, and is one of the efforts by the JPJ to reduce congestion at counters, it said in a statement. The department remains committed to improving the quality and delivery of its services to the people, it added.
