Loose object kicked up and smashes through car’s windscreen on SKVE – part of leaf spring from lorry?

A Facebook user recently posted shocking dashcam footage showing an object crashing through his car’s windshield while driving along the South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE) yesterday.

In the first video, the recording car is seen passing several vehicles along the highway. Around the 28-second mark is when the scary encounter takes place, as the silver Proton Saga the driver was following “slingshots” an object that proceeds to fly and crash into his windscreen.

A subsequent video shows the extent of the damage, with the passenger side of the windscreen smashed and having a hole. The object, which looks to be part of a lorry’s leaf spring assembly, also appeared to make contact with the B-pillar and front passenger headrest. Fortunately, the driver was travelling alone; we shudder to think what would have happen if there was a passenger in the front.

Netizens commented that they too have encountered such a situation (here’s another that we reported one involving a metal pipe), suggesting that the victim submit a claim with the highway concessionaire, although there are some that said it was a futile process.

  • This occurrence is what JPJ and the minister need to focus at instead of bidding car plate numbers and digital driving license.

The highway concession must have road maintenance including sweeping for loose materials on the road. We used to see plus rider on bike clean up loose impediments from Pg bridge and some highways

Who is going to take responsible to replace that Mazda’s windshield? Plus, the driver seems like an arse tryna overtake on the left lane
