The usual practice of banning goods-carrying vehicles from the roads during peak festival periods is back this Hari Raya Aidilfitri. The rational behind this is that the big lorries are slow, and their presence during peak festival periods will add to congestion.
The transport ministry and JPJ have announced that the road ban for goods-carrying vehicles will be from March 29 to 30, which is before Raya, and from April 5-6, which is after the public holidays. As with previous road bans, the move is also to reduce the risk of accidents.
There are three categories of heavy vehicles with varying ban periods – Category 1 is a full ban, Category 2 lorries are banned from midnight to 8am, and Category 3 construction vehiicles are from 6pm to 6am within a 25 km radius. See the image above for the detailed description of the type of goods-carrying vehicles.
Not all lorries are banned though, just very heavy ones. Commercial vehicles carrying goods that are not specifically mentioned in the chart above are allowed to use the roads as normal during the ban period, as are heavy vehicles and mobile cranes providing emergency services.

Why this Raya got road ban when during recent CNY no such thing? There were lines of lorries & trailers jamming up the road along with those to & fro balik kampung.
Why only this festival and not the last one?
PH Gomen discriminate against its voter base or is it trying to fish votes from a majority demography that wont vote them?
All you had to do was search “Road ban” into Paultan’s own search function, and that CNY “Road ban” article is the 2nd result below the Raya’s one. Both by the same author nonetheless. Heck even the poster is recycled, 1 with lantern and 1 with ketupat.
To others reading this, don’t bother replying this fella, just dislike his comment. Pretty sure he/she is bored and trying to fish for attention, but green thumbs on mine would be cool too. TQ hehe.
