Honda City facelift now available in Phoenix Orange Pearl – RM400 cost option on all five variants

An additional exterior colour is now available for the Honda City facelift, and this is the Phoenix Orange Pearl that was introduced here last October on the City Hatchback. Like the hatchback, the new tone does not replace any of the other hues available for the car, costing an additional RM400. Yes, the same is true for the hatch as well, whereas it used to come free.

The inclusion of Phoenix Orange Pearl means that there are now six exterior colours for the City in Malaysia. As before, Ignite Red Metallic, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl and Lunar Silver Metallic are offered, the last two shades being available only for the petrol variants.

No change in the model line-up, which consists of four petrol versions (S, E, V and RS) and a RS e:HEV hybrid sitting at the top of the model range, or their on-the road pricing without insurance, which is RM84,900 for the S, RM89,900 for the E, RM94,900 for the V, RM99,900 for the petrol RS and RM111,900 for the e:HEV RS.

No mechanical revisions either, with the petrol variants powered by a 1.5 litre naturally-aspirated inline-four DOHC i-VTEC engine offering 121 PS (119 hp or 89 kW) at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm at 4,300 rpm and the hybrid by a 109 PS (107 hp or 80 kW) and 253 Nm electric motor.

The latter is juiced by a 98 PS/127 Nm Atkinson-cycle version of the 1.5 litre mill that primarily functions as a generator, but can also drive the car at higher speeds (where it is more efficient) through a single-speed transmission and a lock-up clutch.

  • I remember Toyota offering Orange Metallic on the 2021 Vios and I don’t believe that was a popular colour choice.

There is ~100 2022 Vios listings (including many duplicates) on Mudah and there is only 2 in orange.

RM400 option? Honda has one of the worst car paint qualities. The paint seems to be very think layer only and chips off easily. Still want to charge extra for this fugly colour?
