Rapid Bus will be launching a further seven zones of operation in the Klang Valley for its Rapid KL On-Demand van service from March 27 to accommodate greater passenger demand, the company has announced in a statement.
The seven new zones are:
- Kampung Ampang Indah – Taman Sri Watan (Trek Rides, four vans)
- Ampang Hilir – Kampung Datuk Keramat (Trek Rides, four vans)
- LRT Ampang – Ampang Jaya (Trek Rides, four vans)
- MRT Putrajaya Sentral – Precincts 14 and 16 (Kummute, two vans)
- Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) (Kummute, two vans)
- MRT Putrajaya Sentral – Cybersouth Dengkil (Kummute, two vans)
- Desa Pinggiran Putra – Desa Gemilang Putrajaya (Kummute, two vans)
Operational zones which use the Trek Rides application are routes which have connectivity with train services and the Jalan Ampang bus lane. While previously only the Jalan Genting Kelang and Jalan Klang Lama bus lanes had access to this service, now all bus lane users can continue their journeys with Rapid KL On-Demand, according to the statement.
Rapid KL On-Demand will also improve services in the seven zones launched on March 10 by providing an additional van for each zone to accommodate growing demand, the statement continued.
The zones that will receive an additional van each are Taman Melati – Gombak Setia; Bukit Antarabangsa – Setiawangsa and Bangi – UNITEN zones, Wangsa Maju – Sri Rampai; Titiwangsa – Chow Kit; Bandar Kinrara – Jalan Puchong and Taman OUG – Kuchai Lama.
The number of vans serving the routes will be increased as there has been encouraging response from users, said Rapid Bus acting CEO Ku Jamil Zakaria. “This is to ensure that this service is convenient for users and to give more people the opportunity to experience using Rapid KL On-Demand,” he said.
The highest daily ridership recorded was 4,732 users on March 18, since the service was expanded to 17 new zones on February 1. With the launch of the new zones on March 27, Rapid KL On-Demand will operate a total of 93 vans covering 33 zones around the Klang Valley.
