Carro assists Putra Heights fire victims with loan of 30 vehicles – working with MoT and Selangor exco on aid

Carro is loaning out at least 30 vehicles to the residents of Putra Heights affected by the gas pipeline leak fire on April 1. The online automotive marketplace is working closely with the transport ministry, the Selangor state government and local authorities to distribute aid.

This initiative is part of larger aid effort by the company to help affected residents regain stability and mobility, as they continue with their daily lives, the company said in a statement.

“It’s disheartening to witness the extent of impact and damage to the residents, especially during this festive period; and we wish for recovery to those who were injured. We hope our cars can help some residents slowly get back to their daily lives and ease any disruptions,” said Carro Malaysia CEO Derrick Eng.

The company says that it will work closely with the offices of transport minister Anthony Loke and Selangor state exco for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han, as well as local authorities to coordinate relief efforts. Ng had previously mentioned that applications for car loans can be made through his office on a first-come-first-served basis.

According to local reports, over 277 homes and 399 vehicles were affected by the gas pipeline leak fire, with over 100 families housed in temporary shelters. Many of the cars that were left behind as residents fled showed signs of damage from the extreme heat, with images of melted body panels, charred paint and broken glass going viral.
