Tesla Model Y Juniper facelift announced in Thailand – RWD and Long Range AWD, from RM224k, Q3 delivery

Tesla has announced the Model Y ‘Juniper’ facelift in Thailand, where two variants will be offered – the Rear-Wheel Drive from 1.719 million baht (RM223,792) and the Long Range All-Wheel Drive, priced from 2.019 million baht (RM262,848). Deliveries will start in the third quarter of this year.

The standard Tesla Thailand warranty is four years or 80,000 km for the vehicle and eight years or 160,000 km for the battery and drive unit. The LR AWD’s battery warranty limit is longer at 192,000 km.

Launched in February and with deliveries slated for this month, the Model Y facelift is available in Malaysia with the same two variants – the RWD from RM195,450 and the LR AWD from RM242,450, figures that are a fair bit lower than what our neighbours need to pay.

Of course, Tesla prices are always quoted as ‘from’, because there are plenty of options, from a white interior (RM5,000) to ‘Full Self Driving’ for RM32,000. The Launch Series with extra kit and the Acceleration Boost function is no longer available.

Tesla doesn’t release output or battery capacity figures, but it does claim that the RWD gets from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and achieves a WLTP-rated range of up to 466 km. Meanwhile, the LR AWD completes the century sprint in 4.3 seconds (with Acceleration Boost) and can travel up to 551 km on a single charge. Both have an electronically-limited top speed of 203 km/h.

The biggest changes to the Juniper include a full-width light bar that pushes the slimmer headlights lower down, another full-width light bar at the rear, the number plate recess pushed down to the re-profiled diffuser and interior changes carried over from the Model 3 facelift. These include a larger 15.4-inch touchscreen, customisable ambient lighting, ventilated seats and an eight-inch rear touchscreen on the back of the centre console. The SUV retains a signal stalk, though. Full details in our launch report.
