KDN proposes use of MyDigital ID to pay saman

The home affairs ministry (KDN) has proposed the use of MyDigital ID for traffic summons (saman) payments, with minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail telling Berita Harian that although the use of the app is not mandatory, it is part of government policy.

“This is still in the proposal stage and has not been approved in parliament. We want to encourage users to use the application to verify their identity in a transaction,” he said.

The government has agreed to amend the National Registration Act 1959 to enable the use of MyDigital ID and ensure increased use of the app in the future. All future transactions involving the traffic investigation and enforcement department (JSPT) will prioritise those who are MyDigital ID-registered.

“Where the JSPT has previously offered up to 50% discounts on saman, we could give those with the app even more, perhaps 55%. It is easy to register for MyDigital ID, just use your mobile phone and the process takes just a moment,” Saifuddin said.
