Young Malaysian racer Hakim Danish won a double podium in the 2025 Red Bull Rookies race in Jerez, Spain. The Terengganu boy showed poised and confidence in Qualifying 1 where he placed on pole, just 0.446 of a second ahead of rival Brian Uriarte.
Leading Race 1, Hakim held off Uriarte and Veda Pratama of Indonesia, maintaining a consistent pace. However, s all mistake two corners from the finish line saw Hakim lose some speed, allowing Uriarte to overtake and having to settle for second place.
Heading into Race 2, there were 10 riders battling for the top spot in the lead group. The close quarters battle saw Uriarte crashing out while Pratama was forced to retire after colliding with Carter Thompson of Australia.
Thompson stayed upright, leaving four riders, including Hakim, in the lead group. Racing side-by-side into the final turn, Thompson grabbed the lead coming out of the corner, leading to an all-out sprint down the straight.
Tucking in, Hakim maintained his place, coming in second behind Thompson despite an overtake attempt, finishing just 0.031 of a second behind Thompson. The two second place podiums in Jerez are good enough to place Hakim at the top of the rider’s championship standings with 40 points, followed by Thompson with 38 points and Uriarte with 25 points.

Hopefully can see a very talented rider from Malaysia in motogp one day.
Found out about the kid when I watched BigTime’s video on MotoGP and the coverage they did on the US rookie. Seems quite grueling but this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. All the best Hakim.
