A recent TikTok video highlighting car battery thefts near the Glenmarie LRT station has raised concerns among commuters, many of which are forced to park outside the attached Park and Ride facility due to limited parking spaces.
In the video, which was posted by @bateri.ku.com_ttdi, an individual advised commuters not to park at unmonitored areas outside the station and claimed there have been many cases of car battery thefts in the area. He pointed out that the Proton car he was working on has had its battery stolen twice.
This doesn’t appear to be an isolated case, as several netizens also shared their experiences of car battery theft and losing other belongings while parked near the Glenmarie LRT station. Towards the end of the video, the person behind the camera advised commuters to park their cars at neighbouring LRT stations and not along the roads outside the Park and Ride facility at the Glenmarie LRT station.
It isn’t just car batteries either, as over two years ago, an owner of a Honda City shared her ordeal of her car’s catalytic converter being stolen while parked at the Glenmarie LRT station. A dashcam hardwired to continuously record even when the car’s engine is not started may help in such cases. Are you a victim of theft at this station? Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Who gain more?
Selling stolen old battery or selling new battery to desperate driver.
Let them park lah. If even paid carpark is Park At Your Own Risk, whatmore illegally double park on both sides of road and causing both traffic to squeeze into space of single lane. These people deserve battery stolen, tyres stolen, and windows broken.
Nobody taught them how to steal ev battery yet KEK
Battery theft happen in my area Tmn Desa too. Where do you expect people to park if the regular parking space is full.
Theft is the culture of crimes and criminals.
Very common especially on older cars. My friend’s Kancil battery also got stolen twice. (Different location)
I got a feeling it’s the kind of people we’re all thinking of, in fact I saw them stealing ‘parts’
Police mana nih…sampai kat sosial media…mungkin take action…itu pun…kalau ada action. Pastu…back to usual.
