iCaur V23 previewed in Malaysia ahead of confirmed launch – off-roader EV with up to 211 PS, 550 km CLTC

iCaur V23 previewed in Malaysia ahead of confirmed launch – off-roader EV with up to 211 PS, 550 km CLTC

In addition to the iCaur 03 and its more rugged sibling, the 03T, another electric vehicle (EV) from Chery’s sub-brand that has been earmarked for Malaysia is this, the V23. The EV is currently being previewed at this year’s Malaysia Autoshow (MAS 2025) in left-hand drive form, which you’ll know by the ‘iCar’ badge (the brand is known as that in China).

The V23 was revealed in its home market in April last year and is available with a rear electric motor rated at 136 PS (134 hp or 100 kW) and 180 Nm of torque. This is powered by either a 59.93-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that provides a range of 401 km following China’s CLTC standard, or 81.76-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) unit that offers up to 550 km.

For something with more oomph, the V23 can also be had with all-wheel drive that adds a front electric motor with 75 PS (74 hp or 55 kW) and 112 Nm for a total system output of 211 PS (208 hp or 155 kW) and 292 Nm. AWD variants are only offered with the 81.76-kWh NMC battery and provides a range of up to 501 km.

Comparing the V23 to the 03, the former occupies a smaller footprint by being 4,220 mm long, 1,915 mm wide and 1,845 mm tall. However, its wheelbase of 2,735 mm is slightly more than the 03’s 2,715 mm, with the 03’s other dimensions being a length of 4,406 mm, width of 1,910 mm and height of 1,715 mm.

As for pricing, the V23 in China retails for between 109,800 and 149,800 yuan (about RM65k and RM89k). The 03 is in the same ballpark with a price range from 109,800 and 139,800 yuan (RM65k and RM83k).

While there’s no indication how much the V23 will cost when it goes on sale here, the 03 could provide us with some insight. iCaur Malaysia has already confirmed that it is accepting registrations of interest for the 03, with two variants being offered that have an estimated price of RM145,000 and RM155,000 respectively.

If we extrapolate based on the pricing of both models in China, the V23 should be priced similarly to the 03. Would you choose this over the 03? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Without the tax included in the car price which is the initiative initiated by the government till end of this year 31-dec-2025, the price still so expensive (around RM145k – RM155k) for icar v23 and 03?
