The road transport department (JPJ) has released its latest vehicle registration data for the month ended April 30, 2025, so here’s the top 20 best-selling models for last month and the first four months of this year.

Unsurprisingly, Perodua models occupy the top portion of the list, with the Bezza taking first place (7,527 units in April, 30,862 YTD). It is followed by the Axia in second (6,615 units in April, 27,838 YTD) and the Myvi in third (5,567 units in April, 23,750 YTD) on the podium.

Coming in fourth is the Proton Saga (5,069 units, 20,433 YTD), after which we find more Peroduas in the form of the Alza (3,606 units, 14,436 YTD) in fifth and Ativa (2,751 units, 11,164 YTD) in sixth. The Toyota Vios (2,398 units, 8,427 YTD) did well last month by having more units registered than the Proton X50 (2,106 units, 7,117 YTD), Toyota Hilux (2,015 units, 6,731 YTD) and Proton S70 (1,702 units, 6,126 YTD).

Outside the top 10, registrations of the Honda City (Sedan and Hatchback) dipped significantly (from March 2025) in April 2025 with 1,595 units, although the YTD total is still comparatively high at 9,098 units. As JPJ’s data includes recon vehicles, the Toyota Alphard is in 12th place with 1,379 units and its YTD total is 5,434 units.

Moving on, we find the Proton Persona (1,328 units, 5,351 YTD), Perodua Aruz (1,305 units, 4,412 YTD) and Toyota Corolla Cross (1,224 units, 5,260 YTD) in 13th, 14th and 15th respectively. The Honda HR-V experienced the same fate as the City with a big drop from March with 1,043 units in April 2025 to take the 16th spot, and its YTD total is 6,420 units.

Meanwhile, the Jaecoo J7’s 891 units registered last month is good for 17th in April and a YTD total of 3,597 units, the latter placing it ahead of the Honda CR-V (634 units in April, 3,033 YTD). An electric vehicle (EV) managed to crack the top 20 for the first time this year, with that honour going to the Proton eMas 7 that saw 799 registrations. In the bottom two for the month are the Mitsubishi Xpander (696 units, 3,494 YTD) and Honda Civic (688 units, 3,927 YTD).
