iCar V27 teased ahead of debut – EREV off-roader nicknamed the “Chinese G-Class/NEV Land Cruiser”

iCar (we know it as iCaur in Malaysia) CEO Su Jun recently took to Weibo to tease the V27, an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) that he nicknamed the “Chinese G-Class” or “new energy vehicle (NEV) Land Cruiser.” According to CarNewsChina, the V27 is slated to be launched in Q4 this year.

The V27 will be the third model in the iCar line-up after the 03/03T and V23, and like those models, it will appear as a rugged off-roader. Pending information from the Chinese ministry of industry and information technology (MIIT), the upcoming model will reportedly be the brand’s largest offering with an overall length of around 4.9 metres. For context, the 03 is about 4.4 metres while the V23 is around 4.2 metres.

Spyshots posted by Chinese media indicate the V27 will be a boxy vehicle with large bumpers and pronounced wheel arches. Other cues include large side mirrors, a side-hinged tailgate (with attached storage box), vertical taillights and rectangular headlamp clusters with integrated circular LED daytime running lights.

As for the powertrain, the EREV system used by the V27 is expected to have a 1.5 litre turbocharged engine serving as a generator. Rear- and all-wheel drive configurations are said to be offered, along with an electric-only range of around 200 km following the CLTC standard. Pricing is claimed to be between 200,000 and 250,000 yuan (about RM119k and RM149k), making it the most expensive model in the range.
