Earlier this week, PDRM announced road closures and diversions for six highways and 25 major roads from May 23-28 as Malaysia – the ASEAN chair this year – welcomes leaders of Southeast Asian countries for the ASEAN Summit. The event will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) on May 26 and 27.
Now, PLUS has issued a reminder on the staggered road closures on the Klang Valley highways that it operates, which are the North-South Highway, NKVE and the Elite Highway.
From May 23-26, staggered closures will happen from 7am on the KLIA – Putrajaya stretch of the Elite Highway, the Subang – Jalan Duta stretch of the NKVE, and the Sungai Buloh – Damansara stretch of the North-South Expressway. This will be for the arrival of the ASEAN leaders, after which they will be ferried to city centre hotels.
The delegates will depart on May 28, which will see the same stretches of the Elite Highway, NKVE and North-South Highway closed in stages, from 8am. See the map above for a clearer picture.
By the way, PDRM will be having a dry run today, and city commuters are advised to take public transport throughout the event – there will be many road closures as the delegates are transported from their hotels to the event venues and back, so do expect a spillover to the rest of the Klang Valley. If you have to drive, expect delays.
