You’ll remember that back in January, the road transport department (JPJ) offered a special flat compound rate of RM150 for three offences, including AES or AWAS speeding tickets. The authority has now reminded users on social media that the measure is ending June 30, after which those who still had outstanding summonses will be barred from making transactions such as renewing their road tax or driving licence.
As a refresher, the aforementioned three offences include getting caught speeding or running the red light by Automated Awareness Safety System (AWAS) cameras (Summons 53A) from October 2018 onwards, failure to comply with Notice 114 (Notice of Interrogation Call) up to 2023 and failure to comply with Notice 115/JPJ Notice P23 (Driver Details Request) up to 2023.
The compound for these offences is usually RM300, meaning that the special rate is basically half-price. Users can check their outstanding summonses and pay through either the MyJPJ app, the mySIKAP portal, and JPJ physical and mobile counters and kiosks.
