Nissan N7 – over 17k bookings in China in first sales month; EV sedan being considered for Japan launch

According to a report by China’s Yiche, Nissan is considering selling the N7 in Japan. The electric sedan, which was launched in China on April 27, is a product of the Dongfeng Nissan joint venture and is built on the same Quantum Architecture No.3 Platform as the Dongfeng 007.

Nissan has already said the N7 will not be limited to China and will be exported to other markets, although no official details are available for now. An introduction in Japan (if it happens) would necessitate a right-hand drive conversion, which opens up the possibility of ASEAN markets welcoming the N7 as well.

Based on a recent release by Nissan, the N7 appears to be doing well in China, with 17,215 orders secured within the first month of the electric vehicle (EV) going on sale. Deliveries began in the country on May 15, with the automaker saying 70% of orders coming from first-time Nissan owners.

The N7 is one of nine new energy vehicles (NEVs) that the company plans to launch in China by the summer of 2027. It is offered in three variants – Max, Pro and Air – with pricing ranging from 119,900 to 149,900 yuan (RM71k to RM88k).

Buyers can choose from two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries – 58 or 73 kWh – with both paired to a front electric motor that serves up peak torque of 305 Nm. Peak power differs depending on the battery chosen, with the 58-kWh option serving up 218 PS (215 hp or 160 kW) while the 73-kWh option packs 272 PS (268 hp or 200 kW). The CLTC-rated range is between 525 and 635 km.

So sad for Nissan… Once a pioneer in EV with their Leaf, and now rely on China tech and China company to produce their EV…
