Bentley Kuala Lumpur has opened order books for the recently-announced 2025 Bentley Bentayga Speed. The big news in this latest update for Crewe’s luxury SUV is the switch from W12 power – the 12-cylinder powerhouse has been discontinued – for a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine.
The Bentayga’s performance flagship model packs 650 PS and 850 Nm of torque from 2,250 to 4,500 rpm, which hurls the big Bentley from 0-100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. Top speed is 310 km/h when fitted with the optional carbon ceramic brakes. Despite having four cylinders less, the V8 Speed has more power (15 PS) than its 900 Nm W12 predecessor and is also half a second faster to 100 km/h.
The engine isn’t just more powerful – Bentley says that it’s also more characterful. The Bentayga Speed is fitted with a sports exhaust system as standard, and it delivers a ‘rich, powerful engine note’ with two elliptical tailpipes. Shockingly, one can opt for a louder titanium Akrapovic exhaust system with quad pipes.
The chassis setup is said to be most dynamic ever on a Bentayga. It sounds ludicrous, but you can now generate on-throttle slip angles in this luxurious beast. Yup, this will drift, mad as it sounds. Comfort and Bentley modes remain unchanged, but here’s an enhanced Sport mode (15% stiffer suspension) and a new ESC Dynamic setting that gives one the choice of enhanced road-holding or the ability to slide the brick.
Also included in ESC Dynamic programming is launch control, a first for the Bentayga. By the way, ESC Dynamic is available only in conjunction with the optional carbon ceramic brakes. All-wheel steering – which increases agility and improves the turning circle low and medium speeds, and improves stability at high speeds – is now available too.
Exterior Speed touches include dark tint brightware, bright chrome Speed badges on the leading edge of the front doors and 22-inch Speed wheels in either dark tint or silver. You’ll also find unique Speed headlamps (dark tint internals and bezel) and tail lamps with the same dark treatment. Again, going for the optional carbon ceramic brakes will ‘unlock’ a feature – 23-inch Speed wheels in grey satin, black or black and bright machined finish.
Exclusive to the Bentayga Speed is a black roof, which can be finished in either gloss or satin, depending on the body finish. The black roof includes the lower section of the tailgate spoiler.
Inside, there’s a Speed-specific driver information display, Speed badging on the passenger fascia and treadplates, and ‘Speed’ embroidered on the seats. Bentley ‘bullseye’ air vents, organ stops, and central air vents can be finished in dark tint if you don’t want the standard chrome.
Seat shoulder panels, door inners and the backboard of four-seat models all feature a new ‘Precision Diamond’ quilt design seen on the new Continental GT. For the upholstery, the Speed colour split features a darker secondary hide as the predominant colour, with flashes of the main hide colour on seat outers, door and the instrument panel side cheeks.
The most powerful and dynamic Bentayga ever with a ‘more visceral and thrilling side to its character’ can now be ordered at Bentley KL from RM2.8 million including duties, but before options, of which there are plenty to tick, including the all-important carbon ceramics. No visibility on production schedules yet, but you can be at the head of the queue. Is your idea of a fast Bentley sleek and low-slung instead? Check out the latest Continental GT Speed, which is now a plug-in hybrid.
