The Malaysian institute of road safety research (MIROS) is conducting a study on public perception and readiness towards automatic emergency braking (AEB) technology in Malaysia, and is inviting feedback on the matter via a survey, which can be found here.
The questionnaire consists of four main sections, with the questions within meant to establish the initial perception people have towards AEB technology and to find out their willingness in embracing the tech.
As per such a format, there are no right or wrong answers in the survey, with the institute only asking that respondents provide honest responses based on their opinions and preferences. The survey takes approximately five to 10 minutes to complete, and MIROS is offering the first 400 respondents a token of appreciation in the form of a RM5 Touch ‘n Go e-wallet top-up.
The institute added that all responses provided will be kept strictly confidential and will only be used for academic research purposes. No personal information will be disclosed, and all data will be analysed collectively without identifying individual respondents.
So, if you have a particular view about AEB, be it unquestionable faith or distrust in the tech, here’s your chance to share what you think about it.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
past 2 years, i had 3 times the AEB auto braked itself because a motorcycle cilok into the front of my car suddenly in KL
Most advanced AEB also haywire due to typical nuisance motorcyclist zigzags lane splitting etc
I’ve experienced several times Car auto brake all of a sudden while driving on highway. There were no obstacles in front but the sensor somehow detected something unseen & applied emergency brake. Fortunately the cars behind wasn’t following that close but did give a fright to them from my sudden braking. I’ve experienced 3 times while driving different cars, so it’s not isolated case. The sensors can’t differentiate real objects from what I presume something small flying just inches infront of the sensor. Now as a habit, I will turn off the autobrake everytime I drive a car that has such system. Fourth time may not be so lucky & could end up being rear ended badly. It would be different if the car has multiple Lidar as they are more accurate than just object sensors like those use for reversing. I hope the authorities takes such flaws seriously to avoid unnecessary accidents due to sudden braking.
