Transport ministry, JPJ reveal list of lorry, express bus operators with highest number of unpaid summonses

The transport ministry, through the road transport department (JPJ), has revealed the list of lorry companies and express bus operators who have recorded the highest number of traffic summonses for various vehicle offenses under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333), Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board Act 1987 (Act 334) and Land Public Transport Act 2010 (Act 715).

According to transport minister Anthony Loke, authorities identified 11 lorry operators with more than 1,000 outstanding summonses and 17 express bus operators with more than 200 outstanding summonses. He added that the list – which revealed one company having a whopping 22,017 outstanding summonses alone – was far from exhaustive, but naming the most serious offenders was meant to serve as a warning to others.

He said that five primary offences committed by heavy commercial vehicle companies are, in the following order, technical offences (brakes/tyres not in accordance with vehicle specifications/ as welll as vehicle modifications), drivers not having valid driving licences, overloading the vehicle, no valid road tax (LKM) and insurance, and driving over the speed limit.

For express bus operators, the five most common offences are, again in following order, driving over the speed limit, committing various traffic offences (continuously driving in the right-most lane, queue cutting, drivers using a mobile phone while driving), technical offences, drivers not having a valid driving licence, and no valid LKM and insurance.

Loke said that all companies involved have been given 14 days from the date of the announcement to settle all outstanding summonses at any state/branch JPJ office. “Failure to do so will be followed by stricter enforcement action, including the vehicle being blacklisted immediately,” he said.

He said that the authorities will not tolerate any party who fails to comply with the law, and reminded all commercial vehicle operators to review and resolve all outstanding summonses.

What’s the point revealing? In the first place, these vehicles and operators should be suspended but yet you have the guts to reveal this? If they continue to operate on the roads, then what is your officers doing? Zzz?

Will you take action against your staff sleeping on the job? How the lorries and buses can renew permits and licenses? Not to mention continue to post a safety threat to the users on the road? Do we need more fatalities? Remember you once said if fatalities and accident figures do not come down , you have failed and will resign?

While private vehicle owners cannot renew roadtaxes if there are outstanding summons, why can commercial vehicle vet theirs? Similarly driving licenses?

So what is the state YAB Amir doing about this fiasco?
With due respect to him, cant he get his macai to BAYAR all the summons and CHOP off the recalcitrant drivers?
What a shame for a state owned entity to break a national record for blatant disregard of traffic rules and not paying summons on time?
And the beautiful part is after the UPSI and FRU accidents, baru Ahlokekor started to wake up from slumber and “ambil tindakan” like total blacklist within 14 days.
Comeon,if no UPSI and FRU deaths, then no need ambil tindakan kah?
Just pathetic and disgusting and totally unacceptable.

I think we have to slice Ahlokekor’s salary by half and deny him pencen.

Is there a JPJ whatsapp # to send these traffic offence video or offences? Instead of us having to make them viral, hoping to catch the attention of JPJ enforcement?
Will JPJ also go after fake video/pics?

Didn’t pay and vehicle getting blacklisted? Minister Loke, do you really think the companies will care about this and they will stop using the vehicles? This will only create a lot of lorries that no longer have valid insurance on the road. Guess who will suffer most when got into accidents with these lorries? Us, the other road users, that will now have to claim our own insurance (lost NCD)!!!

Why don’t just withdraw the company license and haul the company owner asses to court? Scared those asses you end up hauling to court is the fellow members/family members of Parliament/Political party?
