The Chery Omoda 5 facelift is now launched in Indonesia, and it gets a new name there – Chery C5, with the Omoda sub-branding dropped. The facelifted B-segment SUV first surfaced in Russia in September 2024, and has since entered right-hand-drive markets like Australia.
The ‘Cross F Future’ C5 sports a fresh face that combines sleeker, E5 EV-style arrow-shaped LED daytime running light ‘eyebrows’, joined together by a black bar with – confusingly – the Omoda script logo. Below this, the bumper has been re-profiled to have an X-shape, while the original car’s chrome-studded grille makes way for body-coloured squares. Like what you see?
No changes to the C5’s rear, which also has Omoda badging. There’s also a new design for the alloys, which are 17-inch on the entry Z and 18-inch on the top RZ, which also comes with a panoramic sunroof. By the way, there are no more red accents all around the car’s exterior and wheels. Red Ruby is a new colour.
No changes inside, but the spec sheet gets a PM 0.3 ‘ultra-efficient’ filter and ‘Internet Of Vehicle’ (IOV) capabilities. The ADAS suite gets traffic jam assist and intelligent avoidance system.
While the Omoda 5’s 1.5-litre turbo-four with 145 hp and 230 Nm is retained, the engine gets a new gearbox partner in the form of a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, which replaces the old CVT. Elsewhere, the Omoda 5 was also available with a 197 PS/290 Nm 1.6-litre turbo-four and seven-speed DCT combo. The suspension has been improved – the rear now gets a multi-link set-up instead of a torsion beam.
The Chery C5 is priced at Rp 319.9 juta (RM83,413) for the Z spec and Rp 349.9 juta (RM91,235) for the top RZ. An ‘exclusive promo’ bundles in a 10-year or one-million km engine warranty, six-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty and four-year or 60,000 km free service and spare parts.
What do you think of the Omoda 5 facelift’s new look and technical improvements? Perhaps this is also coming to Malaysia soon, and under the Chery brand instead of the more upmarket Omoda | Jaecoo spinoff.

Yeah. Change name, it will renew people’s confident. This along with launching multiple sub-brands are particularly useful tactic if the product quality sucks.
If product quality is good, manufacturer would want to stick to the model name because of the brand legacy. People would associate it with the good experience from the previous models.
yes, just like the altis, sprinter levin allion are the other name for that model.
That’s not change name. That’s adding a new variant to the existing name. Don’t be an idiot.
