Developer, quarry companies agree to repair road damage in Kuala Krai caused by overloaded lorries

The developer of the Kemubu Small Hydropower Project (PHK) as well as several quarry companies have agreed to repair road damage caused by the movement of lorries carrying excessive loads to the project site in Mukim Kuala Stong, Dabong in Kuala Krai, Bernama has reported.

Damage to several main routes were found on Kuala Krai routes D233 Jalan Kemubu-Bertam and D229 Jalan Kampung Biak, as well as the D235 Jalan Bertam Lama-Jerek route and part of the D233 route according to the director of the Kelantan public works department (JKR) Nik Soh Yaacoub.

“The developer will repair the roads back to their original condition, involving the sub-base to the premix surface, to ensure the roads are restored. The roads in question have been damaged down to the base structure due to lorries carrying heavy loads of rocks from the quarry in Gua Musang to the PHK in Kemubu,” the Kelantan JKR director told Bernama.

Earlier this month, Bernama reported that approximately 5,000 road users faced the risk of accidents and vehicle damage due to the severely damaged road conditions in Kampung Bertam Lama in Gua Musang.

Meanwhile, Nenggiri assemblyman Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani hopes that the monitoring conducted by the JKR will ensure that the repaired roads can be used for a long period, even when used by overloaded lorries, according to the Bernama report.

Why do they have to agree? They are the source of the damage, they pay. Pretty simple. The law is there, throw the book at these people if they don’t. Whether they agree or not is irrelevant.
