Tokyo Auto Salon KL 2025 at MITEC from August 8-10 – more JDM legends, modified cars; cheaper tickets

We now have more details about the third instalment of the Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur (TASKL25) following the official launch of the event recently. Returning to the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), TASKL25 will take place from August 8-10 and tickets are available for purchase now.

In terms of pricing, one-day passes are RM48 for adults and RM30 for children (aged between 6-12). There is also a one-day family combo that includes two adult and two children’s tickets for RM120. Solo adult visitors can get a three-day pass for RM120.

Meanwhile OKU tickets 50% off and cost RM24 for adults and RM15 for children, with each costing an extra RM24 should they bring along their caretaker – RM48 and RM39 respectively.

This year’s edition of TASKL will see the return of famous Japanese figures in the automotive world, including Top Secret’s Smokey Nagata and the father of the modern Nissan GT-R, Hiroshi Tamura. Joining them are Liberty Walk’s founder and owner Wataru Kato, RE Amemiya founder Isami Amemiya, Kuhl Racing’s Takahiro Kataoka and J’S Racing’s president Hisaaki Murakami.

The stars of the show will undoubtedly be the cars, and TASKL25 promises some exciting exhibits such as the Top Secret VR32 Stealth Nissan GT-R that combines the body of a third-generation (BNR32) Skyline GT-R with an uprated engine from a R35 GT-R.

Meanwhile, Liberty Walk will bring along its famously kitted-out Ferrari F40 and Super Silhouette ER3, the latter modelled after the KDR30 Skyline driven by Masahiro Hasemi in the 1982 and 1983 Super Silhouette Formula race series.

Other exhibits are the Crewch Delusion GT-R R356C, a concept that imagines the next-generation GT-R, along with RE Amemiya’s Matsukiyo Kizami 3Rotor NA-7 and Aless Century Complete WL. “One of the most daunting tasks we face every year is the selection of special cars to be brought in from Japan. To be honest there are a lot, but again this also depends on the availability as many of these top tier cars are on tour to be showcased at shows worldwide,” said Element X Strategies director and CEO Jason Yap.

“And so it is always a fine juggling act between bringing in the most talked about car in the world and the most recently displayed at Tokyo Auto Salon this year,” he added. On ticket sales, Yap said: “The interest has been phenomenal over the first two years. However, we want to make the show even more accessible to car fans, enthusiasts, families and the masses to enjoy one of the most exciting tuner and performance car shows in the country.”

“TASKL is equally gaining traction amongst tuners in Japan. There is also a good reason why personalities like Smokey Nagata and Hiroshi Tamura keep returning to Malaysia and this is because they are equally amazed and excited with Malaysia’s tuning scene,” he continued.

A new element of this year’s event is Malaysia’s Finest Tuners (MFT), which will be a specially dedicated area to showcase, promote and pay tribute to top Malaysian car tuners. An auto styling competition to be judged by a special panel of Japanese tuners, the gathering of car clubs and an area dedicated to displaying some of the rarest collection of cars in Malaysia are also things visitors can look forward to.

For diecast fans, TASKL25 will also be unleashing exclusive Toyota Supra Mk4 chase and super chase cars during the show. In collaboration with The Model Car Show Malaysia (TMCS), a “Mini TAS” will also be set up as a dedicated diecast display and sale area.

TASKL25 will feature several themed zones: Sakura Street and Midnight Tokyo; stage performances; Japan A Girls; a two-hour simulator endurance race by RaceRoom; a Car-Meets-Cosplay competition; a meet and greet with racing driver and Autobacs ambassador Zen Low; Malaysian artist extraordinaire Zameer Pentbrush who will be doing a live demonstration powered by Castrol; and a lucky draw prize of a motorcycle sponsored by EXN Lubricants.
