JPJ Honda CR-V cuts across solid double lines, forces oncoming vehicle to evade and avoid head-on collision

Dashcam footage of a near-miss between vehicles approaching from opposite directions has emerged on Facebook, where the dashcam vehicle appears to be travelling along a two-way road with double solid white line markings.

Dated July 9 (today) and timestamped 10:18am, footage shows that the dashcam vehicle approaches an articulated truck four seconds into the dashcam footage. Immediately thereafter, a road transport department (JPJ)-liveried Honda CR-V is seen on the wrong side of the road with its strobe lights on, attempting to overtake the articulated truck, in the lane of the dashcam vehicle with no clear line of sight through the bend.

Fortunately for the occupants of the dashcam vehicle, there is ample room on the hard shoulder, which the vehicle makes use of in order to avoid a head-on collision with the JPJ vehicle. These solid double white line lane markings are present on the stretch of road throughout the 12-second duration of the video footage.

    I think

any reckless overtaking should get Saman + penalty like mandatory to buy a Sepang Open Race Ticket and complete 1 round there, including surcharge of racing supervision fee.

    Forced training to speed ethically.

  • And from a JPJ vehicle, no less. Quite a reflection of the state of driver education in the country, when a JPJ vehicle attempts to overtake a heavy vehicle around a blind corner, over solid double lines. Flashing lights on the lightbar isn’t really an excuse to throw sensible defensive driving out the window, even when in a hurry or an emergency.

This definitely needs more attention. I’d like to see JPJ’s statement in response to this one.

  • JPJ & PDRM must take solid action towards such JPJ staff. Has JPJ already responded to this issue? Or can someone tag MOT?

When JPJ commit any wrong-doings, they get a very light punishment. But went a biker hits the driver’s car…. Ahhhh..the driver gets fined so much , gets a more serious jail sentence , driver gets his/her license revoked…..
    Pathetic
