There’s a new charge point operator (CPO) in town. SenangCas is a joint venture between the Malay Vehicle Importers and Traders Association of Malaysia (Pekema, the AP holder parallel importer club) and Aquateak Energy, and it plans to install over 650 EV chargers nationwide by end-2026. The chargers will be at city centre locations and along major highways.
“Through this collaboration with Aquateak Energy, we aim for Pekema to emerge as a leader in developing a more efficient, intelligent, and user- friendly EV charging network. This is our holistic step to help the nation achieve its target of 10,000 public EV charging stations by 2030,” said Pekema president Datuk Hj Mohamed Nazari Noordin.
“We are proud to collaborate with Pekema on this initiative. It not only helps Malaysia achieve its carbon neutrality goals but also directly benefits users through broader and faster charging access,” said Aquateak director Datuk Tarmizi Jusoh. Aquateak is described as a solutions provider focused on renewable energy infrastructure, energy storage systems and smart grids.
Mohd Nazari said that Pekema’s extensive network of members across the country “is a significant advantage in terms of market reach and strategic locations for this project,” which aims to use clean energy and smart grid technology to ensure system reliability. There are also plans to expand operations into ASEAN countries in the next phase.

Don’t need more chargers. We need reasonably priced ones.
any association that is being setup for race base is a platform for unfair competition and discrimination.
Sounds like Pekema is just riding along the work of others. Do they have any expertise to offer?
Pity them. Tesla business tak jadi. Neta, tak jadi. Now venturing to crowded EV charging business.
