The hydrogen refuelling facility at the Petros Multifuel Station (MFS) in Batu Kawa, Sarawak has commenced testing and commissioning, reported Bernama.
This hydrogen refuelling facility is part of the Petros MFS Batu Kawa development, and also offers conventional fuels, electric vehicle charging, along with quick-serve restaurants for nearby communities and road users, according to SEDC Energy.
The station receives 120 kg of hydrogen via tube trailers from the Darul Hana hydrogen production plant, located around 10 km from the station. This plant has a production capacity of up to 150 kg of hydrogen daily, Bernama reported.
“As part of the commissioning process, five Toyota Mirai fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) managed by SEDC Energy are being refuelled at the station to ensure all systems meet safety and performance standards,” the firm said in a statement, according to the report.
There are 10 multi-fuel stations currently operational across Sarawak including in Darul Hana in Kuching, Daro, Kanowit, Kuala Matu, Brooke Drive in Sibu, Selangau, Tatau, Kapit, Sungai Asap and Jepak, said SEDC Energy. Four more stations are in the works, located in Bintulu, Miri, Sibu and Sri Aman, it added.
Plans for the first multi-fuel station in Sarawak were first announced in 2019, with the first MFS launched in Darul Hana in April 2022. Sarawak was the first Malaysian state to receive the second-generation Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicle in January 2023, with four units going to SEDC Energy and one unit handed to Sarawak premier Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
