Teased since May, the iCaur V27 has finally been unveiled in Dubai. According to Car News China, iCaur’s largest model to date is expected to launch in China in the fourth quarter. Estimated prices are RMB200k-250k (RM118k-147k).
It’s a nearly-five-metre-long range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) with a 1.5 litre turbo engine, allowing a circa-200-km EV-only CLTC range. No battery details yet, but CNC says rear- and all-wheel drive versions will be offered, with the latter giving you about 455 PS altogether.
Boxy, boxy, boxy – CEO Su Jun called it the ‘Chinese G-Class‘ or ‘new energy vehicle (NEV) Land Cruiser‘. The only round things we can see on it are the LED DRLs and wheels – even the tailgate-mounted spare tyre cover is rectangular, as on the Chery sub-brand’s other models. The glass roof is rather uniquely split down the middle.
Along the side you can see roof rails, a ruler-straight shoulder line, an upright glasshouse, D-pillar vents, angular flared wheel arches and side steps. There doesn’t seem to be a rear shot yet (outside of the previously-released teasers which you can see below), but CNC mentions vertically-stacked rectangular tail lamps and a rugged-looking rear bumper.
