Overview
The smart #1 is a five-seat B-segment electric SUV for buyers stepping into a premium-leaning EV with rear- or all-wheel drive options. It is priced from RM169,000 in Malaysia and has been on sale here since this generation launched in 2023. The range runs from the 315 km Pro to the 422 hp Brabus.
#1 in 2026 — what's new
For 2026, the Malaysian smart #1 range carries on with Pro, Premium and Brabus variants. China receives a revised 2026 #1 with an 800V electrical architecture, a 61.52 kWh LFP battery, 535 km CLTC range, 333 PS and a Sennheiser sound system. Those Chinese-market specifications do not replace the Malaysian line-up, which retains its 49 kWh Pro and 66 kWh Premium and Brabus choices.

Which variant to buy
Most buyers should pick the RM209,000 Premium. Its 66 kWh battery lifts range to 440 km, a useful 125 km gain over the RM169,000 Pro, while retaining the same 268 hp rear-wheel-drive layout. The RM40,000 gap buys the Premium’s bigger battery. Pay RM249,000 for the Brabus only if 422 hp and all-wheel drive matter more than outright range; its quoted figure is 400 km despite sharing the 66 kWh battery.

smart #1 buyer's guides & reviews
Verdict
The #1 Premium is the sweet spot of the Malaysian range: 268 hp, rear-wheel drive and 440 km of quoted range make it the sensible specification for daily use. But it is not a cheap B-segment EV. Even the Pro costs more than the RM163,800 BYD Sealion 7 and RM159,948 Xpeng G6, while the Premium sits substantially higher still. The Brabus is for performance-minded buyers, not range maximisers.
