Overview
The Honda CR-V is Honda’s C-segment SUV, with the RY generation launched in Malaysia in 2023. It suits family buyers who put space, usability and everyday practicality ahead of visual drama. The current range starts at RM178,200, with petrol-hybrid e:HEV and 1.5-litre petrol AWD choices.
CR-V in 2026 — what's new
For 2026, the Malaysian CR-V gets an update rather than a generation change. The big addition is a new 2.0 e:HEV E hybrid variant, giving the line-up a lower-priced hybrid entry below the e:HEV RS, with the 1.5 V AWD petrol still in the range. The update also adds built-in Google, BLIS and RCTA to the e:HEV E and e:HEV RS.

Which variant to buy
Most buyers should start with the 2.0 e:HEV E at RM178,200 because it is the cheapest CR-V and already gets the hybrid powertrain. The 1.5 V AWD costs RM181,900; pay the extra RM3,700 only if all-wheel drive matters, noting that it swaps to a 1.5 petrol CVT rated at 187 hp. The 2.0 e:HEV RS is RM195,900, so pay the RM17,700 gap over the E only if its RS equipment matters to you; on paper, it is not buying a different hybrid output.

Verdict
The CR-V’s case is still the familiar one: space and usability come first, with technology now playing a bigger role. It is not the cheap option in the class. Proton X70 starts at RM106,800 and smart #3 at RM175,000, while the CR-V begins above both. If you want a five-seat family SUV with Honda’s practical packaging, the 2026 update makes the hybrid side of the range more relevant.
