Inokom will be launching it’s locally assembled version of the new facelift Hyundai Getz – to be called the Inokom Getz later this month, which will come in 1 variant – the Getz 1.4 litre DOHC. They had a media preview recently but I was not invited, so I don’t really have precise details on the car – the best I can do is talk about the features of the new facelifted Getz overseas and hope they’re also echoed in the local version. Anyway, details and more photos after the jump.
I’ve actually blogged about this new Hyundai Getz facelift more than a year ago in my post 2006 Hyundai Getz/Click so if you want a refresher, head on to that post.
The new Inokom Getz is a promising new addition to our local market, with a price of only RM58,888 it is quite affordable. It’s also worthwhile to note that in the previous third J.D. Power Malaysia Quality Study 2005 results released in October last year, the Inokom Atos came out top in it’s segment, with only 153 problems per 100 vehicles, with the industry average being 199 problems per 100 cars. In the MPV segment, the Inokom Matrix came in 2nd place, at 139 problems per 100 vehicles – this is only 6 more problems than the first place winner, the Toyota Unser which had 133 problems per 100 vehicles. This says something positive about Inokom’s Kulim plant quality control, and let’s hope this good assembly quality continues with the new Getz.
On to the engine. The Euro 4-compliant 1.4 litre 16-valve DOHC engine makes 97PS at 6,000rpm and 126Nm of torque at 3,200rpm. It also gets a new intelligent 4-speed auto tranny with high top gear ratios to reduce highway cruising fuel consumption, while sensors constantly monitor engine speeds and driver behaviour so that it can adapt to individual driving styles.
In the higher trim level, peek behind all four 14 inch alloy wheels and you will find disc brakes equipped with ABS anti-lock brakes and electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD). There is also a single airbag that comes standard in one of the higher trim levels.

Be the 1st!! hahaha
looks like peugot 306.. still copy maa..!!!
although its kinda similar to its big bro Hyundai Getz, I notice several simple, but attractive additions and as far as I am concern, the Inokom Getz entry to the market is making things very exciting indeed..
but the price of slightly below 60K…heemmm…?…..but lets give it the benefit of a doubt, shall we…?
Hey guys?..How come no turbo-diesel version coming aaa? AAiyooo…hopefully next year no increase in oil price laa…then a bit lega….a bit lighter on my wallet…( am I the 2nd?…he he..)
let see…ummph?
chop here ..chop there, then you got new facelifted Hyundai Getz.
then again, chop here.. chop there… = Inokom Getz
then again, chop more.. BELIEVE IT OR NOT .. you got NAZA BESTARI 206
WHUAALLAAH.. the very magic of sila mata.
Paul, can you compare side by side these 2 "MAGICIAN"?
Ermm….kalau only one model, is it still called a variant? :P No offence. Just trying to sound silly.
Anyway, and on a more serious note, I think it is still affordable at below RM60,000.00 and gives the Malaysian public more choices at that price range.
Eh….? How come nobody mentioned about the "new and wonderfull" HYDOXENE tech. Can put inside this one paa..then everybody benefit laaa..Just a crazy thought though…(Is it?)
please stay on topic. i dont want to read any hydroxene discussion here.
wonder how the local hyundai with their getz's gonna feel when this is in the showrooms :p
doesn't look nice at all to me…
interior is dull also…
at RM58k, i will probably consider Waja… yup…not a proton supporter but I still think Waja is a better buy compare to Getz in RM55k to RM60k price range…
Agreed. Somemore at 58k u get a 1.6 engine. Inokom need to work on the pricing strategy a bit more. Price it at 50k would be a better bet.
Paul Sir,
I meant putting the HYDROXENE tech into THIS car..No offence guys..just my crazy thought to minimise fuel consumption…
this car already on sale in malaysia. my house here have one blue in color…. is a nice face life.
"at RM58k, i will probably consider Waja… yup…not a proton supporter but I still think Waja is a better buy compare to Getz in RM55k to RM60k price range… "
Agreed, u can get a Manual Waja Campro with dual airbags and ABS with EBD at RM59K.
But, this facelifted Getz looks tempting. If i can remember, it scored 4 out of 5 stars in the Euro NCAP crash test. Amazing!!!
Wahlaueh…
In..No..Kom…… lack of sporty spirit…. just copy blindly….. please have some more add on values to the car…. like sport version… aerokits…. The car's outlook doesn't attract me at all.
With RM58k and score third in J.D. Power Malaysia Quality Study 2005, standard ABS, and driver airbag. I probably will consider this car, the exterior is okay, but the car needs better interior…
If they go lower and fight head one with Neo, then it will be really interesting to see. Quite similar in size and also slightly better engine capacity.
At 58k, it still give Waja to sell on 1.6 engine. At 1.4 (which almost make little difference to 1.3), even I a non Proton Supporter will go for Waja. Another consideration is also the size of the car.
Anyway, good luck to Inokom.
ya i agree if its around rm5x,xxx ,thn its a beter deal to get the waja campro..interior is nicer..biger engine..in short its a proper car la…this one absolutly should be price below rm50k…to make it make sence..bt knowing our market…noting makes sence anymore…
yes better get the Waja as Proton cars all comes with more accessories… 58k for Waja with power window problem at the same same time the salesman handover the carkeys.
we cant blame the car becuase of the pricing, we should also consider second hand value, buy a Waja then afetr 1 year price going down like hell, my humble advice will be make longer list of consideration not only the price at initial buy.long terms short terms satisfaction global perception respect prestigious etc etc
Are you guys crazy?
RM50k or below, where do you think MyVi would stand? This is a 1.4 with 4-disc brake and the std safety accessories. Besides, it's not even National Car status, so don't expect lower price.
With MyVi priced at RM 50K and to protect national interests, the Getz should be priced around RM 58,888 as stated in the blog.
Hopefully its not as noisy as the Daihatsu engine. Looks wise, its not as bulky too. Will certainly give MyVi a fight.
I hope it comes with 4 disc brakes as the current 1.3 Getz has only two.
alan2006, like I said, it DOES come with 4 disc brakes. Both the CBU & CKD do.
It's seemingly similar to the new Kia Rio already, except for the shell and minor interior.
Charger, I think the Rio is priced around RM 70K, right?
Rio looks is fine with me.
of the locally rebadged foreign cars, i think inokom has done a good job at giving good quality cars at an affordable price.too bad inokom does not have the rights to the other hyundai models such as accent, sonata etc. if they rebadged the accent and sell at 40K, sure p1 p2 go bust.
haih, how i wish city is much more cheaper
dis car is not affordable, its expensive.
this car is not my cup of coffee w/o any bodykit..it will be nicer if inokom throw in a bodykit at RM58,888..hehe
I saw this discussion in 2006. I'm seeing on Getz 2008 model 1.4 GL Special Edition (SE) with no ABS and only front wheel disc break but the price RM63k++ OTR.
i already bought getz 1.4 only rm53000 on roadshow…i got GPS…getz is much better than waja…i already sold my waja for getz…although its a 1.4 engine, but the driving experience is much better than waja…getz is sound proof, the suspension is really smooth, accelaration is better, the body is much heavier and much safety than waja because the crash test NCAP is 4 star.
GETZ SE preformance wise is okay. The fitting of the sport rear and front bumper is poor. It does not fit well. It woul be much better to have it with the original bumper. Looking at the poor fitting I think RM60K plus is a bit too expensive.
