Hammond’s Car Crash

richard-hammond.jpgFor those not in the loop, Richard Hammond of Top Gear fame recently got into an accident while filming some footage for Top Gear. He was driving, or should I say piloting a dragster-style jet-powered car capable of reaching speeds over 500km/h, when a tyre gave way and sent the car flying towards the right, and ending up with it’s nose dug into the ground. Hammond was in a serious but stable condition, but recently recovered wonderfully and is back on the Top Gear show. Here is a video of the crash, 12 minutes long.

Bravo indeed. Talk about speed killing people.

It didn't even kill him, so we can conclude that we can speed but always drive safely… XD

Ha, they even made a joke about the accident, poor guy :p

But I gotta hand it to him though, he was a brave one to ride in that car. And yes, it was a miracle he survived through that crash. Dunno if he will still have the guts to try another stunt like that in the future.

Goodness you scared me, i thought he got into another car accident. When i read it was the Vampire jet car, it alleviated my worries. Don't scare me like that Paul! I hold Top Gear very close to me. Can't stop watching it!! Viva La Top Gear!!

Scare you? Who do you think is most scared? The doctors didn't want to show Hammond the vid at the beginning, bt later they did cuz it's pointless nt to as well as Hammond asking for it (the video), I think, or something like taht.

Richard Hammond aka Princess Diana, hv officially become a living proof that speed does nt kill. It's becoming stationary all of a sudden, is what gets you. The fact that there's no pole, trees or whatever along the way makes it possible for Hammond to stop slowly rather than abruptly, so the impulse force on him isn't that big enough to kill him.

He managed to clock 280mph/448kmph on that run before the rubbers gave up. He was most likely to be saved by a well build protection cage, and his Arai full face helmet, which still have dried cake mud on its surface.

And beside that, it is sheer luck that the jet-car did not do an over-flip which could be disastrous to hamster. Imagine putting an egg into a tin can, and roll it hard a couple of times. The end result could be that of hamster's brain – shattered !

Anyways, we are all glad that he is back on his old ways..wondered if he would have any phobia after this, or he may be more daring now, since he knows where the limits are?

    IMHO….

does that VAMPIRE have any aerodynamic fittings ?

the track also not very wide…

    Hammond was just lucky!!!

The reason why I said Paul scared me is because at first glance in his blog, I had thought Hammond got into another accident. I didn't know he was posting about the accident which already happened.
