The Maruti Suzuki Swift DZiRE is set to hit India’s shores on the 29th of this month, and a teaser site is already up online. The car is essentially a Suzuki Switch hatchback with a boot tacked on. The site has a few preview images depicting a Swift DZiRE shrouded by shadows, or just parts of the car, but look after the jump and you will find some low resolution spyshots captured from a video.

According to Maruti Suzuki, the Swift DZiRE will feature class-leading equipment that have never been offered in an entry-level sedan in India, like an integrated head unit with steering wheel audio, automatic climate control, dual SRS airbags and ABS brakes.

Looks weird, but like Persona, I think the masses will flock to this one if launced with a resonable price (say a 3-5k premium over the 5-door?)

But then Swift has never been famous for interior space, so maybe they should stick to 5-door and make it a niche alternative that serves it so well right now.

On a side note, I’ve not actually sat in a Swift, but is it true when some claim that the Myvi is more spacious that the Swift?

i know some ppl say it’s cut n paste, but it’s not easy really to engineer a boot to a hatch…

but i must say some cars r just not meant to be sedans and this is an example :D

Omg!!! It is so ugly as the Vios! If this car has the same wheelbase as Swift then it will never be as spacious as the Latio…

Reminds me of a nissan car I recently saw. Maybe same design?

Is this car targeted only for the Indian market? (Since its developed through Maruti-Suzuki joint venture).

The wheelbase looks longer than the hatch, and I think the profile is much sleeker and smoother compared to the pics from the previous pics.

Paul, we’re looking forward for the update this 29th March.

YES IT IS TARGETED TO THE INDIANS ONLY. NOT MALAYSIAN.
BECAUSE THEY SELL MORE CARS THERE COMPARED TO OTHER NATION.

At the moment the car will be launched only in India, but you never know. I just saw it’s official site http://www.marutidzire.com and I found the car good, not weird at all.
