First batch of Brilliance BS6 en route to Germany

The first batch of 270 Chinese-made Brilliance BS6 sedans by Brilliance China Automotive Holdings have been shipped to Germany. The BS6 has undergone Euro NCAP crash tests and managed a score of 3 stars. The BS6 is the size of big D-segment cars like the 5-Series and the E-Class but will go head to head against cheaper rivals like the Hyundai Sonata. Under the hood is an ancient 2.4 liter inline-4 from Mitsubishi with only 130hp.

A car that looks good with poor interior design and terrible engine. Can this car pass the Euro4 emission?

going against German’s ain’t a good idea. The design looks like one of those Korean made chairman branded cars.

You mean the Ssangyong Chairman? At the very least, that thing had a Merc engine in it haha.

hahaha! 2.4 liter producing only 130hp.
wah….that engine must really be from the 60s.
but i guess its a staple in china cars.
my LMG shuttle with that old 2.4 mitsubishi engine also doesn’t feel powerful at all. it’s freaking hard to sell off.

why the heck they export to Germany….over ambitious i think…
July 19, 2008 @ 7:44 am
Ambitious, yes, bound to fail, probably.
They are likely to try and try and try again until they succeed.
Noted for determination.
While the old 2.4 is jurassic by todays standard, it is a reliable workhorse.
The chinese will be giving almost every car manufacturer a big sweat in a few more years. Just think they didn’t really exist some 10 years ago. Just think of the combined “copied” technology of the Japanese, Koreans and Europeans.
